Meghalaya is largely a rural and agricultural state, with 80% of its population living in rural areas and 70% relying on agriculture for their livelihoods. The state's growth has been hampered by geographical challenges, poor connectivity, and inadequate infrastructure.
In response, the State Government has introduced several initiatives to boost business, including the PRIME program, enhanced access to credit through partnerships with banks, and support for artisans.
A major part of their strategy involves establishing 46 PRIME Hubs, one in each block, to promote entrepreneurship and strengthen the business ecosystem.
